The Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Choir’s Song Tops The UK Singles Chart

I am so pleased The Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Choir’s song, ‘A Bridge Over You’, topped the UK singles chart to reach Christmas number one today. All the proceeds from the song are going to health-related charities.

Doctors and nurses, and their colleagues, from this area of London were the first to look after me when I came to England. They were the first people I met in our precious National Health Service.

It’s all to easy to think of the NHS as a system, but in fact, it is a group of remarkably dedicated people, working under incredible pressure, to bring healing, and comfort to millions in the UK, day and night, all year round. Congratulations to the choir, but above all, thank you to everyone in the NHS.

The founder of the NHS, once said:

The NHS will last as long as there are folk left with the faith to fight for it.

Aneurin Bevan

We are those folk. We have that faith. We will fight for our NHS. Please show your support for our precious NHS. Download ‘A Bridge Over You’.
