Love is valuing the joy and pain of another being like we value our own. We instinctively seek our own happiness and take action to relieve our own discomfort; love makes us instinctively do the same for others.
Love is not merely service (action) nor is it merely delight in the beloved (infatuation), though it can express itself in both of these. Loving someone means being able to choose what is best for them over what is best for us. Desire and possessiveness are false love because in both the focus is on us — our needs and wants.
Thought For The Day From Readers
Take that choice that you have. Don’t let it slip through your fingers. A feeling doesn’t feed a hungry person. We need to turn our feelings into action.
There’s no better time than today to turn our feelings into actions.
During my struggle, and still now, every small act of kindness means so much to me — Kindness is powerful. This Christmas I want to spread the power of kindness worldwide. This year, my Christmas wish is to get as many people as possible, from all over the world, to perform at least one act of kindness during the month of December. Any act of kindness, big or small. It could be donating toys, paying for someone’s coffee, or just sitting by someone who may be sitting alone, anything.
